Scholarship Event Highlights J-Days

For some journalism students, the impact of a weakened economy has been lessened by receiving scholarships.
The Lemke Journalism Department doled out roughly $51,000 in scholarships among 31 students. The scholarship portion of J-Days is a highlight for journalism students receiving the aid that helps them continue their education at the UA.
All journalism majors are welcome to apply for the scholarships, some of which are awarded by the full faculty on behalf of the department, while others are awarded according to donors’ wishes and presented by sequence.
Students must apply for scholarships early in the spring semester. Successful applicants are notified by e-mail prior to the awards ceremony. Students and their families were honored at the event at the Alumni House. The scholarships presented and their recipients are as follows:
